Engineering is a world where quantitative judgment should and can be made, but this has often been difficult to achieve on a manufacturing floor dominated by human inspection. With the automated inspection solutions offered by us, quantitative inspection and engineering of micrometer defects is finally possible: with their 1μm resolution, our Optocomb 3D scanners have a reliable track record for the fast detection, identification and quantification of a large range of 3D defects such as dents, scratches, particles, burrs and more.
For example, our Optocomb 3D scanners can detect micro-defects such as this 40-μm-high burr appearing at a machined edge. Burrs are a constant battle for machined parts. Yet, they often lead to significant dysfunction during the assembly process or the final product operation. The detection of burrs is thus crucial but difficult, because they are typically a few tens of μm high and are rarely generated on a flat surface: they often occur at the back of complex structures that are extremely difficult to inspect with traditional methods. By contrast, users of Optocomb 3D scanners can leverage their coaxial configuration and long working distance to easily inspect burrs within complex structures. In particular, with its 1 μm resolution, our M5 ultra-high resolution scanner can be a fast and reliable solution for your burrs inspection process.
Many medium and large parts have cylindrical features that need to meet high quality requirements and the ever-demanding design of modern manufacturing. We have thus developed its Helical Scan. It combines our high-resolution Optocomb sensor with a rotating mirror that translates within the structure along its rotating axis to probe the inner walls of bores. With Helical Scan, you can dive deep into bores and perform the visual inspection of the smallest particles, scratches and bulges of your manufactured parts: cylinder blocks, bearings and more.
Optocomb Suite, our comprehensive metrology software can leverage the 3D Optocomb data to fully automate the inspection process. Its powerful detection algorithms can not only detect and identify microdefects, but also quantify their three-dimensional dimensions in an instant. Based on your own manufacturing criteria, Optocomb software Suite will automatically assess the quality of your part and generate inspection reports. With such an automated toolbox, the human eye is no longer required to assess the quality of manufactured parts, and manufacturers can rationalize their production system.
